What is Lean Enterprise

Custom Information Services (CIS) has many manufacturing customers so we want to increase our knowledge in this industry to help us and our customers. Richard Ayars our CTO and I along with a full room of manufacturing and services companies attended the TMAC - Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center Lunch and Learn for Lean Enterprise yesterday. Brandon Phoenix with TMAC did an incredible job on this topic. He made the subject interesting and engaged the attendees in the discussion. I was really surprised that the Lean Management System can apply to any industry or business. If you are not familiar with TMAC and you are in the Dallas - Fort Worth area I would strongly recommend that you reach out to this group. You can find out more on their website http://www.tmac.org.

The next Lunch and Learn topic is Leveraging Problem Solving Skills for Sustained Improvement Efforts and is scheduled for Wednesday November 14. 2012. CIS will be attending!

What is effective problem solving? It consists of using appropriate methods to address and resolve specific problems in a timely manner. There are dozens of methodologies and tools for problem solving. How do you choose the right approach? How do you measure problem solving skills and their effectiveness for continued improvements?

Organizations and individuals solve problems every day. Some use formal methodologies while others use less systematic approaches. Regardless of problem solving approach, it is increasingly important for organizations to have employees that are effective problem solvers.

The time investment in running a manufacturing business can be daunting, but spending time at events that TMAC hosts is well worth the time.
